It was great to spend today with the family enjoying the good weather and watching world class athletics at the 'Olympic Stadium'London, soon to become the home of West Ham FC. It is a wonderful venue in the middle of East London. On a bright summers day, we saw Mo Farah destroy the field in the 5,000 meters, which was simply amazing. Those guys runs so fast for 5,000 meters, the TV does not give you the sense of speed that these athletes move at.
We had quite a good position in the stands not far from the finish line and in a good position to watch the 'Discus', and 'Shot Putt'.
For the first half of the day we watched the 'Para Athletes', what an amazing bunch of people. Able bodied people have not excuse not to get up and try something. To see athletes without lower limbs compete in the Long Jump, The 100m, The 200m is just inspirational and for those who race in wheel chairs; well the next picture just says it all.
Finally and by no means least Mrs Jarrett got in on the act, but I fear she has a split allegiance as she sports a Jamaican Dress but carries a Union Jack Flag. But I must say, this was a nice chilled day, out with the family and if it is done again next year I would most certaining attend.
The Team GB Mens A & B four by one relay teams did exceptionally well winning their race in positions one & two. It just shows what we can achieve when they don't 'Drop the Batton' :-).
